HAMBURGER STEAK WITH COUNTRY GRAVY

Prepare the Hamburger Steak:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 1/2-inch thick.
Cook the Hamburger Steak:
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil.
  2. Add the hamburger patties to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
Prepare the Country Gravy:
  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Sprinkle the flour over the melted butter and whisk until smooth, cooking for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  3. Slowly pour in the beef broth, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  4. Cook the gravy, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the Hamburger Steak with Country Gravy:
  1. Place the cooked hamburger patties on a serving platter or individual plates.
  2. Pour the country gravy over the hamburger steaks, allowing it to pool around the edges.
  3. Serve the hamburger steaks with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
