Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
Extra flour for dusting
Instructions:
1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. Mix the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until dough forms. Adjust with more flour if sticky, or water if dry.
3. Knead the Dough:
Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Let the Dough Rise:
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
