Ingredients
- 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1½ cups mini marshmallows
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan
Grease a 9-inch square or round pan (or the same size pan that you’re using for your layered dessert) with non-stick spray or line with parchment paper. - Melt the Butter and Marshmallows
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they’re fully melted and smooth. - Add the Cereal
Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir quickly until the cereal is fully coated with the melted marshmallow mixture. - Press into the Pan
Pour the Rice Krispie mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula or greased hands to press it into an even layer. Allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes, or until set.
Customization Ideas
- Chocolate Twist: Add ½ cup of melted chocolate to the marshmallow mixture for a chocolatey Rice Krispie layer.
- Peanut Butter: Stir in 2 tbsp of peanut butter with the marshmallows for a nutty flavor.
- Cocoa Krispies: Use Cocoa Krispies cereal for a chocolate-flavored twist.
Tips for Success
- Press Lightly: Don’t press the mixture too firmly into the pan, as this can make the layer hard instead of chewy.
- Quick Assembly: Work quickly after adding the cereal to the marshmallow mixture, as it will start to set up fast.
