Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. You can use an electric mixer for this step.
Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until the dough comes together.
