These flaky, buttery Danish bars are filled with a sweet and tangy cherry cheese filling. They’re perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
For the filling:
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can cherry pie filling
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the topping:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon

- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the milk until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough in half and roll out each half on a lightly floured surface to a 12×16-inch rectangle.
- Make the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cherry pie filling, cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
- Spread the filling evenly over one of the rolled-out dough rectangles.
- Place the second dough rectangle on top of the filling and cut into 12 squares.
- Bake: In a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven, bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the topping: In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the topping over the warm bars.
- Let cool completely before serving.
