Rice Krispie layer

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1½ cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan
    Grease a 9-inch square or round pan (or the same size pan that you’re using for your layered dessert) with non-stick spray or line with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the Butter and Marshmallows
    In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they’re fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add the Cereal
    Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir quickly until the cereal is fully coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press into the Pan
    Pour the Rice Krispie mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula or greased hands to press it into an even layer. Allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes, or until set.

Customization Ideas

  • Chocolate Twist: Add ½ cup of melted chocolate to the marshmallow mixture for a chocolatey Rice Krispie layer.
  • Peanut Butter: Stir in 2 tbsp of peanut butter with the marshmallows for a nutty flavor.
  • Cocoa Krispies: Use Cocoa Krispies cereal for a chocolate-flavored twist.

  • Press Lightly: Don’t press the mixture too firmly into the pan, as this can make the layer hard instead of chewy.
